Pupdate – May 5, 2025

Week 5:

Development:

This week marks a big leap in both physical and mental development for the Harry Potter litter! At five weeks of age, the puppies are becoming more coordinated, curious, and social every day.

Physically, their muscles are strengthening rapidly. They’re learning how to run, play, and even start to climb and explore small obstacles. They will become more confident with their movement, stronger legs, and improved balance. Their baby teeth are continuing to come in, which means lots of mouthing and chewing—great practice for transitioning to solid food.

Mentally, they are beginning to understand their world in a more complex way. This is a critical period for learning and socialization. The puppies are interacting more with their littermates, learning important canine communication skills such as bite inhibition, body language, and play boundaries. They’re also becoming more responsive to human voices and starting to form early bonds with people.

This week, they’ll be introduced to new sights, sounds, and surfaces as part of their early socialization and enrichment program. These experiences help build confident, well-adjusted puppies ready to take on the world when they go to their forever homes.

Important Upcoming Dates:

May 12: Puppies go to the vet and get their first round of vaccinations and will be microchipped as well.

May 19: Pick up date and time must be finalized. The best way to schedule your pick up is just to email me at creeksedgelabradors@gmail.com. Pick up time starts at noon on Saturday, May 24. I am allotting a 1 hour time block (can’t imagine it will take that long) to do the paperwork and provide you with all the “go home” package that will consist of a large zip lock bag of their current puppy food (Victor Hi-Pro Plus), a towel with scent of mom and litter mates, and a toy that have their scents as well. You will get the AKC registration form that you will need in order to register your puppy with the AKC at that time.

Please try to arrange pick up on either Saturday, May 24 or Sunday, May 25. I will be meeting a puppy buyer at the Nashville Airport on the morning on Saturday, May 24th so if that would work better than coming all the way to Huntsville, we can meet there too. (10:00 – 11:00 am). I have already spoken to several that have needed alternate pick up date/times but please still email with the date you will pick up the pup (please note, an alternate pick up date does not move the final payment due date – May 21).

If you would prefer not to drive all the way into Huntsville, let me know and there are some options, like meeting halfway (depending on where you are coming from) for a small gas fee. I am reserving Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 for those that will pick up their puppy here in Huntsville.

On Monday, I have a commitment Monday morning that will have me tied up until around noon. I participate in 70.3 Ironman competitions and that Monday happens to be the kick off of my race prep with the Cotton Row 10K run. I will be available Monday starting at noon. I am on Central time.

May 21: Final payment due. All payments must be made through GoodDog.com. If final payment has not been made by May 20, I will send a payment request via GoodDog as a reminder.

Status of the Litter

The Harry Potter litter has just one puppy still needing a home. There is a ton of interest in him so I am positive this litter will close out sometime in the next couple of days.

This litter between Molly and Joe Willie produced a very good looking litter of puppies. We will probably redo this litter once Molly is ready to do it again and is cleared by the vet that she has fully recovered and back in prime health and shape. (Joe Willie is always ready, so no worries there).
