Pupdate – Take Home Week

Week 7:

Development:

At 7 weeks old, our puppies are becoming little explorers! Their brains are developing rapidly, and they’re learning through every interaction. We’re continuing to shape positive experiences through exposure to new sights, sounds, surfaces, and gentle handling. Play is purposeful now—they’re learning bite inhibition, social cues, and building confidence through problem-solving games and new challenges. This is a crucial week for mental stimulation and social bonding as they prepare to transition into their forever homes.

Last Monday, May 12th, the pups went to the vet and received their first round of vaccines and were microchipped. All of their fecal exams came back negative. All great news. They went outside for the first time a couple of days after that and had a great time. They are quite the explorers!

Take Home Information

  1. I will be providing everyone with a 1 gallon baggie of the pups current kibble. We use Victor Hi-Pro Plus. If you want to switch kibble brands, here is what we recommend for that transition:
    • Keep using current kibble for the first 2 days (pups will be stressed enough so any change in kibble will most likely result in not eating or if they do, they will have digestive issues);
    • Days 3–4: 75% current kibble, 25% new kibble
    • Days 4–5: 50/50 mix
    • Days 6–7: 25% current, 75% new
    • Day 8: 100% new kibble

2. AKC Registration: I will be providing you with the AKC registration form. Registering with the AKC ensures your puppy’s pedigree is officially recorded, and it gives you access to helpful resources, dog sports, and health tracking tools. It’s also the first step in preserving the quality and integrity of your puppy’s lineage.

3. Microchip registration: All of the pups have been microchipped. You will need to register the microchip with the registry (free). All of the information will be provided to you at pick up.

Important Upcoming Dates:

May 21: Final payment due. All payments must be made through GoodDog.com, if you made your deposit through GoodDog.com. If final payment has not been made by May 20, I will send a payment request via GoodDog as a reminder.

Status of the Litter

All of The Harry Potter litter has found a great home.

This litter between Molly and Joe Willie produced a very good looking litter of puppies. We will probably redo this litter once Molly is ready to do it again and is cleared by the vet that she has fully recovered and back in prime health and shape. (Joe Willie is always ready, so no worries there).
